We can use flashy graphic elements if there is a good reason to.
We don’t think this Flash version of our logo is any more effective than the static one above.
Could it possibly even be less effective?
We made this animated gif very small,
but we still aren’t sure what positive value it adds.
There are, however, circumstances under which such graphic elements might be seen as contributing visual interest; this is surely one example.
Of course, such graphic elements can also contribute to a sense of fun:

.
But in general, we use graphic elements only when they support conveying our meaning.
